Let’s see, what is interesting enough about myself to actually write down? K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid). I’ve enjoyed reading for as long as I can remember. I always loved hearing scary stories from my Papa; which I later learned were just memorized verses from Edgar Allen Poe. I loved getting lost in alternate realities. And I always wound up far enough down the rabbit hole to feel as if I had gone on these adventures along side the characters. All these years later it still blows my mind that you can sit in the comfort of your cozy home and also be on the other side of the planet, or outer space for that matter. Is there really anything more magical than reading? I have a hard time coming up with anything comparable.
I’ve been an avid reader most of my life, and I’ve gotten to the point where a number of my friends started asking me for recommendations as to what they should read next. I thought if these individuals wanted book advice based on their tastes, maybe others would be interested too. Slowly my reviews developed into what they are today: the latest books I’ve picked up, what I thought about them, who I would recommend them to, and my pizza rating (basically “if this book were a pizza, what would it be?”).
I’m trying to do reading challenges and make sure I’m picking books from different genres so that everyone can find something they can relate to. It’s taken me on a wonderful journey I wouldn’t have gone on otherwise. Now my challenge to you is to follow along, or at least take a walk outside your preferred genres. May the odds be ever in your favor.
